Treatment is provided for dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) as well as communication and cognitive impairment, resulting from:
- Cerebrovascular Accidents (CVA) / Stroke
- Brain Injuries (Traumatic Brain Injury)
- Brain tumours
- Neurological conditions (Motor Neuron Disease, dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Myasthenia Gravis)
- Vocal pathology (including organic, hyper-functional and psychogenic voice disorders)
- Dementia
- Comprehensive low-technology and high-technology AAC Assessments can be conducted.
- Compilation of full assessment reports with recommendations
- Home/work assessment visits for customising AAC systems
- Patient and family training on AAC technology/devices
- Ongoing adaptation of AAC vocabulary
- In-patient sub-acute rehabilitation
- Out-patient therapy (including provision of home programmes)
- Home visits
- Caregiver training and counselling
- Telerehabilitation (via Microsoft Teams/Zoom)
Interdisciplinary collaboration is an essential component to holistic management. All the necessary referrals, communication, and collaboration with other relevant health care professionals will take place in order to allow individuals to reach their full potential. Joint collaborative sessions will take place with other therapists as indicated.
