Gail maggioli

Gail qualified as a Speech-Language Therapist and Audiologist from the University of Pretoria in 2010. During her undergraduate studies, she received the South African Speech-Language-Hearing Association (SASLHA) Award for Best Student in Clinical Audiology. She went on to complete a Master of Communication Pathology (Speech Therapy) at the University of Pretoria in 2016. Gail has a particular interest in the assessment and management of voice disorders.

Following graduation, Gail completed her Community Service year at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH) in 2011 and remained there until 2021. Her decade in the public healthcare sector provided extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of adults with a wide range of neurological and medical conditions. During this time, she also developed a passion for clinical education, supervising and mentoring speech therapy students and colleagues. She has a special interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), with experience in both low-technology and high-technology communication systems.

In 2021, Gail transitioned into private practice, where she worked with adult patients across acute hospital and sub-acute rehabilitation settings. In 2023, she established Gail Maggioli Speech-Language Therapy at Morehill Rehabilitation Clinic.

Mia Bronkhorst

Mia studied at the University of Witwatersrand and graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology. She did her community service year at Frere Provincial Hospital in KuGompo City (East London) where she worked with a variety of different patients and diagnoses at an in-patient and out-patient level. She led, organised and participated in local clinic outreaches. She also has experience worked with high-tech AAC devises such as TD-Snap, Grid 3 and eye gaze AAC, which she is passionate about. Mia is an enthusiastic and passionate therapist and has special interest in Aphasia and Dysphagia rehabilitation.

Thabile Motaung

Thabile graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Bachelor of Speech-Language and Hearing Therapy in 2021 and completed her community service at Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley in 2022.

She began her career in private practice in Bloemfontein, where she spent more than 2 years working across paediatric, acute, and adult neurological rehabilitation settings. During this time, she completed SPEAK OUT! training for the treatment of individuals with Parkinson’s disease. She later moved to Johannesburg, where she worked in a paediatric private practice supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental delay , and visual impairment. In 2025, she became PROMPT trained, further developing her skills in the treatment of speech motor disorders.

Thabile joined the GM Speech family in February 2026, where she works exclusively in adult neurological rehabilitation. She has a special interest in aphasia and is passionate about providing , person-centred care to help adults regain communication, their swallowing ability and improve their quality of life following neurological injury or illness.
